Lorain County Auditor Closed Fridays
Effective February 6, 2026 and for the foreseeable future, the Lorain County Auditor is CLOSED for business each and every Friday. The Friday closure is in response to budget cuts. While the Auditor performs a number of services, one of the critical services is the transfer of title to real property. This means that in Lorain County the title to real property is only able to be transferred Monday through Thursday.
Please plan real estate closings accordingly. I can foresee that this can be most problematic when trying to close a real estate transaction prior to the end of the month and a Friday is the last business day of the month. If the transaction does not close by that Thursday, then the closing may not occur until the following month, which could negatively impact the transaction or financing.
